Is this something we are supposed to use official artwork and images for, or is the image supposed to be something that we’ve actually drawn ourselves?
Hello Jason,
You have the freedom to submit both types of art for this contest.
Should we have it as a square layout or as a shirt mockup? (Plain or in t-shirt shape?)
Both are fine!
What a coincidence; I just made a picture for my own pony T-shirt. I sent it to you already
What is the demographic that these shirts are going to be aiming for? Pre-teen girls or the rather sizable adult male following (bronies) the show has generated? In other words, should I bother with designs intended for guys? Do you or Hasbro have any preferences?
We prefer the designs to be aimed at fans!
Must the designs be made 100% by ourselves? Can we just shirtify an already existent design?
If we use fanart, must it be made by ourselves?
Yes the art must be created by you.
I have no illustrating program, or skill with a pencil, but there is one thing I want to see.
GIVE ME DOCTOR WHOOVES! and perhaps TARDIE (otherwise known as Colgate), or a pony themed TARDIS.
I would buy this in ten seconds flat.
The rules are surprisingly free of fine print. What’s the scoop on rights, length of reproduction, etc? This is one case where having some more legalese before I submit something would be extremely helpful.
Artwork that is submitted for this contest is subject to approval by Hasbro before entering production. For those designs that are selected as winning entries and subsequently approved, Mighty Fine will make an offer to purchase the design and these considerations will be addressed directly with the artist at that time.

when is the deadline?
July 1st at 5:00 PM PST
I second kefkafloyd’s questions.
Please see answer above.
I have some questions about the submissions once the competition is done.
Will you use the designs for your shop afterwards? Or will you make a deal with those people submitting designs you would like to use?
I’m not here to make money, I just want a kind of deal where you would get a free t-shirt of your design if it’s gonna be used in the shop after the contest, plus the award money if you would win. There’s too many contests out there where people make good lines that are being used years after, and the contestant doesn’t get anything in comparison.
And for us outside the US; Would the prize money include shipping in some way?
And another question… what size (A5, A4, A3… and DPI) should the drawings be in? What kind of format do you want the pictures to be in? (JPG, PNG…) Only drawings or is text alright? Is there a max number of colours to be used on each t-shirt?
Any standard image format is fine. A3 and 200 dpi is ideal, but just for purposes of submitting the initial design, a low-res JPG is fine. (If you are selected as a winner, we may ask for a higher-res version down the line.)
As stated above, the five prize winners will be under consideration to have their design purchased by Mighty Fine and entered into production. There are considerations regarding license approval, etc. that will have to be addressed beforehand, but it is a possibility for those whose designs are selected. As a result of the contest itself, we are offering the prizes above to the winning designs and, also importantly, we are getting a sense of feedback from MLP fans about the kind of designs you would like to see in this line.
I have a good drawing and so I would love to enter, and do not reply I do have feels you know !
If we want to use a vectorization from the show, do we have to do it ourselves, or is it OK to get permission to use one that someone else already did? Since it’s technically just a spline-for-spline reproduction of something Hasbro made either way.
Not to mention, since the show is already made in Flash, you might be better off just using the designs we submit (the ones that use shots from the show) as a guideline and using the official Flash assets for the finished product.

Ooooh, this sounds fun =)
Is there a limit in the designs we can send?
“Artists are welcome to submit as many designs as they like.”
Just wondering, iv already submitted some designs, but the backgrounds are transparent and will be hard to see on a bright background *were intended for dark shirts*. Do i need to resend them with a background or is there something done to them?
If your design is selected we need to adjust anything for print, we will be in touch.
I really wanna enter in this contest! I just finished making rough drafts of a bunch of ideas I have. But the program I use (GIMP) is for non-comercial use. Would I have to buy/use a trial of another program like Adobe PhotoShop? Or could I at least show what I want the concept to look like through GIMP, and someone at Mighty Fine can finalize the drawing if it gets far enough?
Please send in a comp with whatever you have to work with. If your design is a winner, we will go from there.
Hello! Should the final design feature all main pony characters for the show, or may we pick and choose individual pony characters?
You may draw any of the ponies you like
Can they be front and back, or are we limited to one side?
Do you want all the submissions in the same email, or each individually, if we submit several?
Can we submit more than one design?
Yes, read the description and above comments

I have a question about submission. Do we get a confirmation E-Mail about if our designs were successfully submitted when we send them to the address?
I just got an “Thank you” answer for submitting, so I guess that qualify as a confirmation e-mail
How long did it take to receive your confirmation e-mail? Just curios as I submitted mine at about 4:50 a.m. this morning?
Just a couple of hours, I sent my submissions in the evening of the 30th (Time difference and didn’t dare calculate on which was the deadline) and got a mail some time around midnight
Hello. Interesting site you have.
