The name of the game in The Last of Us is to "Endure and Survive," and for five extraordinarily talented artists who entered their work into our The Last of Us Design Contest, that's exactly what they have done! These five winners have endured some stiff competition from over 300 submitted designs, and their work speaks loudly to the excitement that Naughty Dog's runaway hit game inspires:
Brandon Meier's brilliant "Endure" design came out on top to take the grand prize in our The Last of Us Design Contest. The truth is, "Endure" was one of several designs Brandon submitted to the contest - all of them awesome! And the Naughty Dog team loved Brandon's work so much, as did we, that we had to add them all to our shop.
We look forward to seeing more terrific work from Brandon, as he's now a member of our Mighty Fine Artists program! You can also buy all of Brandon's TLOU designs now, just added to our feature page.
Brandon Meier describes the opening of hunting scene featuring Ellie from The Last of Us as "one of the most inspiring moments in a video game, ever" - and it has definitely inspired him to greatness, taking the Grand Prize in our competition with the stark beauty of his design entitled "Endure"! A graphic designer from Sacramento, CA, Brandon enjoys snowboarding and scuba in addition to his love of art and video gaming:
Upon finishing The Last of Us, Ryan Brosnan took his experience and encapsulated the haunting power of the game with his entry, "All Alone"; it caught the eye of Joel himself, Troy Baker who chose it as his Judges' Pick in the contest! An active duty officer in the U.S. Air Force, Ryan has a degree in multimedia and web design and currently spends his down time from military duty creating original artwork:
The survivor's bond between Joel and Ellie is captured brilliantly in Feli Tomkinson's animated spin entitled "Killin' Time," which is our Judges' Pick by the actress who brings Ellie to life, Ashley Johnson! A passionate fan artist and gamer, 20-year-old Feli hails from Buenos Aires, Argentina and dreams of moving to California to pursue a career in video game/character design or a related field:
Even the most grotesque, fearsome antagonists in The Last of Us have, oh we don't know… a certain beauty about them? Jillian Hansen totally gets it, and her stunning "Clicker Nouveau" makes it evident - it's also creative director Neil Druckmann's Judges Pick! Based in California, Jill is also an avid sci-fi fan who gets inspired by everything from 50's pulp covers to sleek futuristic settings:
Both the fighting spirit and the ever-looming threat are paired in the impressionistic "Joel & Ellie" by artist Catherine Unger; game director Bruce Straley selected Catherine's design as his Judges' Pick! An artist and illustrator who has worked on titles including Haunt the House: Terrortown and Detective Grimoire, Catherine makes her home base in London, UK:
Named as 2013's Game of the Year by IGN, Hardcore Gamer, Destructoid and many more, the immersive and thrilling experience of The Last of Us has generated a passionate fan base, evident in the variety and spirit among the entries to our contest. The winning designs - our grand prize winner as rated by YOU, the fans, as well as top-rated designs selected by our honored judges from The Last of Us's cast and creative team - make up an impressive group of "Survivors" in this winners' circle!
